Who We Are

Company founder and president Rob Goodman is a seasoned sport management executive with extensive experience in sports event management and media relations.

Goodman is the  media relations director for the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, the final event of the TOUR’s FedExCup regular season. He also manages corporate communications and media relations for Kalitta Motorsports, a three-car team competing on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. Goodman is a member of the National Sports Media Association board of directors.

Goodman recently spent four years in a fulltime role as executive director of the Greensboro Sports Foundation, the local organizing committee for the many amateur sports events contested in Greensboro, N.C. Among the sanctioning organizations he worked with in this role were the Atlantic Coast Conference, NCAA, USA Swimming, U.S. Figure Skating, the United States Olympic Committee and FINA, the International Swimming Federation, among others.

Prior to joining the Greensboro Sports Foundation in 2018, Goodman was the media director for Alan Johnson Racing, a team competing in NHRA Drag Racing in addition to his role at the Wyndham Championship.

Before 3-G Sports’ inception in 2004, Goodman invested more than a decade in brand marketing and media relations focused on sponsorships in NASCAR, the PGA TOUR,  the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Association while working as a sports marketing executive with a major corporation.

In addition to developing a variety of ways to create brand visibility and media exposure, Goodman nurtured significant business relationships in major markets across the country. This network of contacts allows 3-G to marshal the resources needed to plan and execute programs of various sizes. As an active and highly-respected member of several sports-related associations such as the Golf Writers Association of America, the National Motorsports Press Association, the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association and the North Carolina Golf Panel, Goodman stays connected with an extensive network of strategic and event-support contacts.

Goodman began his career as a CBS local-market sportscaster before entering the sport management arena. While working in television, he covered many different sports including Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Basketball, College Football, NASCAR, PGA TOUR and amateur golf, Olympic sports and a wide array of other amateur sports including high school athletics. He also worked with ESPN while in training for his television career. In addition, Goodman spent more than 15 years coaching soccer, basketball and golf at the high school varsity level.
